From our series: Understand a German better...
'In many countries, especially common law systems like the US or UK, when new laws are introduced, they often replace or repeal older laws to avoid contradictions and streamline the legal framework.
In Germany and some other civil law countries, it’s common for new laws to be added on top of existing ones without fully repealing outdated or conflicting regulations. This can create a complex, layered and sometimes contradictory legal environment that is harder to navigate.
This “pile-on” effect can result in:
-
Legal complexity and bureaucracy
-
Longer, more complicated compliance processes
-
Difficulties for entrepreneurs and businesses to do anything
It’s a generalization, but it aligns with how many people perceive the German regulatory environment compared to more streamlined and flexible systems in other places.'
This is why, in my opinion, it is impossible to live and settle in Germany as a creative, ambitious or entrepreneurial person and be at ease.
This will be my opinion forever, because I have seen it, I have lived it and I am the definition of a creative person. Just in case you were wondering. 🙂
