>> Just a quick Note on This - From Our Series: Understand a German Better...

Image
From our series: Understand a German better... 'In many countries, especially common law systems like the US or UK,  when new laws are introduced, they often replace or repeal older laws to avoid contradictions and streamline the legal framework. In Germany and some other civil law countries, it’s common for new laws to be added on top of existing ones without fully repealing outdated or conflicting regulations.  This can create a complex, layered and sometimes contradictory legal environment that is harder to navigate. This “pile-on” effect can result in: Legal complexity and bureaucracy Longer, more complicated compliance processes Difficulties for entrepreneurs and businesses to do anything It’s a generalization, but it aligns with how many people perceive the German regulatory environment compared to more streamlined and flexible systems in other places.' This is why, in my opinion, it is impossible to live and settle in Germany as a creative, ambitio...

>> 🍓 There Is a Serious Quality Smoothie Shortage in Germany And No One Is Talking About It 🥭

Image
Hello everybody, Welcome back to this blog about nutrition and good food choices. Yes, I know there are bigger problems in the world right now but can I just address the smoothie crisis in Germany for a moment? In London, every week I bought at least 2 bottles of this mango and passion fruit smoothie. Sometimes the green one or the strawberry one too. I really like the quality of these Innocent smoothies . They are really thick and with no artificial additives. When I buy a smoothie here in Germany now, even from this same brand, it is just not the same product. Here, smoothies tend to be thin and watery, the taste is more bland. Or if you buy it from another brand that offers a thick smoothie, it is all natural and more on the sour side. Is this enough to make me go back to London? Not quite yet, but I think we should get good smoothie quality for everyone. Am I just spoiled or is this a valid concern?  I am not sure. Maybe I can find a good smoothie from another brand, in another...

>> ✨ Christmas at Home 🎄 Let's be real: Family Time is the Greatest Gift. ❤️

Image
Hello everyone,  First of all, I would like to say that I am deeply saddened by the recent events at the Magdeburg Christmas market in my home state of Sachsen-Anhalt. In these dark times, a Christmas market is usually one of the few places for peaceful and cozy gatherings with family and friends. So many times I have spoken so highly of the Christmas markets in Germany to those who asked me about my home country. If you have ever been, you know it is a special atmosphere. Less commercial and more about a sense of real life community and togetherness, especially in the smaller towns. Sadly, some even want to take this from us. My condolences to all those affected. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------...

Yes, it is true! Portugal is out, Germany is out. After a nerve-racking game against Spain, Germany was sent home yesterday. But don't worry they won't have to travel far since the Euro cup is taking place in Germany. Groundbreaking journalism. You're welcome.  Portugal lost against France  in a dramatic penalty shootout.   ⚽ Despite all of the sorrow there is a ray of light.  This video, highlighting just how much kids looove Cristiano Ronaldo. It is the cutest thing.  😊  Watch below:

Hier kannst Du weitere Informationen finden.

>> International News: Excuse me MALF - I am slightly offended by this! 🇩🇪😂🇺🇸

Image
Thank you for this important lesson Prof. Dr. Malf. As a German I feel mildly offended yet also very entertained by this content. You can also look it up under 'When Americans Move To Germany'. In our defence I must say, this can happen in any smaller town, I believe. However, I am grateful for this valuable lesson and will take it into consideration. This is memorable content. 😊 #glance

>> Must Watch! When Americans 🇺🇸 Move To Germany 🇩🇪 Culture Shock Unavoidable..

Image
Hello everybody.  Have you ever been to a country that was so different from your own that it took you quite a while to adjust? Well, this is often the case when Americans make the move to Germany. From language, to food, to shopping and free time activities, you will gain a whole new perspective on life if you discover a new country. Just like in the video above. Recently, I have heard about several Americans, who are in the process of moving to Deutschland/just arrived. Having lived in 4 different countries myself by now, I must say, really changed my world view. I have gained a different kind of understanding. And what are your younger years better used for, than exploring other cultures and surroundings than the ones you grew up in and are used to? I think you can only grow and evolve from an experience like that. If you like it or not, when you get back home, you have some international stories to tell! When I moved to NYC I also felt like I was walking around on a movi...

Hey there my dear readers! Thank you for coming back to my Blog. You are amaaazing and always welcome here! So I've quit updating my instagram at the end of 2018 and what can I say, much less brain fog. Much less distraction. I've also deleted the app because my phone is full to the top, so my Blog is really the only source of updates you can get about this creative world traveler, Editor-in-Chief, Singer/Songwriter. 💁‍♀️ There are 2 new things I am doing but I have been told by an expert, to focus on one thing at a time to not be all over the place. So I want to give these projects and my schedule some structure to organize my time. :)  If you are wondering what I have been up to lately, I have recently been working on a new project in London and now I am about to fly to Germany for the holidays. I even got a window seat without any additional charges! Danke. 11 and me! :) There are a lot of things going on, some good, some not so good. Isn't it l...

>> Summertime: Familienurlaub An Der Ostsee = Family Vacation at The Baltic Sea!

Image
beach babe :/ Hello dear readers, I am back again after a little break from my Blogger duties. This time I want to share a few impressions from our family vacation at the Baltic Sea or Ostsee (as we Germans say). Ever since I was a child we tried to go on an annual family summer vacation together. So I was there when I was like 7, 10 or 12. The baltic sea is one of the favorite summer destinations in Germany. The weather, the beach and the climate are what is most interesting about the area.   Harbour in Wismar souvenirs and postcards miniature ships - they also had ships in a bottle After a few years without a family vacation, we decided this year is a good year to bring back this tradition. We rented a bungalow only a few kilometers from the beach, which also had a garden with BBQ area. My nephew Fynn makes the best steaks, even though he is only 10. :) So the most important thing for us, was spending time together. As we get older, we somet...

>> Happy New Year 2016! Exploring Berlin - Museums, Alexanderplatz & An AirBnB Flat!

Image
Alexanderplatz - Berlin Zentrum Hello dear readers and a Happy New Year 2016 to you! May you have a year full of clarity, joy and memorable moments. As you might have noticed, I took a little break from the blog but now here I am - back again. Today I want to share a little travel adventure via plane, train and even bus, with you. In December I took my annual Christmas break and went to my hometown in East Germany. As always family time is my main priority but this time there was something else on the holiday schedule too - a 3 day trip to Berlin ! Let's just ignore the fact that I was living there for 1 year in 2006, because a few things have changed and I was able to re-visit the capital from the perspective of a tourist.  We wanted to make full use of our time in Berlin, so we had to make sure to find a place as close to the center as possible.   We found a very nice, small and inexpensive flat from which you could even see the TV to...

>> Introducing: Bernd Das Brot - Germany's Most Grumpy Yet Most Beloved Mascot!

Image
Bernd Das Brot & Ivonne The Editor Once again we bring you unique content, because who else but us would write a feature article about a grumpy piece of bread that goes by the name of 'Bernd'. Only we do this internationally. :)  The notoriously low spirited piece of dough, is famous in Germany for his TV Show ' Bernd Das Brot '. It is about him, being as grumpy as a loaf can get.   photo:  AP/ Thüringer Allgemeine To honor him, there is even a 2 meter tall statue of his likeness, located in the city center of  Erfurt, Germany since 2007. In 2009 this statue made headlines when an anonymous group abducted Bernd from his regular spot. A few weeks after that, he was found by police in a basement nearby. Their statement was: 'It is definitely him, he is ok.' Fynn and Bernd das Brot   Nobody ever really found out who brought the German cult figure into the basement and why. But he is good and back at his old spot and that is all ...

>> Easter Trip To Germany - Traveling By Train, Home Made Hamburgers And A Lot Of Snow!

Image
Traveling through Germany by train Time to take a break from the stressful London life and reunite with my family! That was what I thought, when I booked the Easter trip to my home-country Germany. First of all, thank you airline ( which I don't want to name here ) for putting me in the first row of the plane when I chose a randomly allocated seat - this was a premiere! :) I never felt closer to the captain, whose shoulder I briefly saw since he was only like 2.5 meters away from me, approximately.. Also, the steward and stewardess are facing you because they are seated ca. 1 meter across during the start and landing.. I got so familiar with them and their procedures I thought it was my shift. :/ Self-made burger (all fresh ingredients) Pewter figure behind glass The Easter bunny and me Once I landed in Germany I made my way to my hometown by train. I saw a camel on a parking lot because the Circus is...
